He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Woodstock (1906–10), and for Cardiff Central from 1929 until he retired in 1945.[1][2][3] A close ally of Ramsay Macdonald, he followed Macdonald away from the Labour Party and supported National Labour from September 1931.
